The story
Blandine Mariau and Sylvain Bothereau became owners of Les Moriers in 2013. Originally, love at first sight between a couple, passionate about wine, and a challenge: an old farm to renovate, overlooking 2ha of vines.
Sheltered from the westerly winds by the Beaujolais mountains, Les Moriers overlook the Saône plain and offer themselves the luxury of a view of Mont Blanc on sunny days. Blandine and Sylvain now produce an average of 2,500 bottles per year of Fleurie, "Terre des Moriers".
Terroir
The soil is granite arena: it is a sandy stone with pink tones that cannot be found in other Beaujolais wines. Fleurie is one of the northern wines, close to southern Burgundy. "Les Moriers" is one of the 13 climates of the Fleurie appellation.
This climate is one of the 5 most famous, it is to the northeast of the appellation, bordering the "Moulin à Vent" (the same granite vein ), the soils are deep, clayey-silent, quartzose. This terroir gives powerful and floral wines, suitable for cellaring (to be consumed within 2 to 10 years).
Thus "Terre des Moriers" is a wine that can be drunk young on the fruit, like much older, on more complex aromas of smoke, spices and rose petals.
Mariau & Bothereau
Blandine grew up on the edge of the Perche and came from the first family generation to turn to a path other than agriculture: she will teach Letters. His taste for wines, a matter of passion and people, and the discovery of Beaujolais landscapes will allow him to return to Earth. This passion has been shared for over thirty years with Sylvain.
While studying architecture, the exhibition "Château Bordeaux" in Beaubourg will inspire him with his subject of memory: the construction of a wine-growing château in Bordeaux. This immersion in the civilization of wine and the beauty of the highly architectural vineyard landscapes did the rest: one day, he will produce his own wine!
